My name is Steven Verborgh. This website, or whatever you call it, is nothing more than the latest attempt at starting a weblog. Hopefully, in the future, it will get update with information on (or the teaching of) development methodology, open source, android, J2EE, ruby, source control and if possible some more interesting gossip about life and everything else. I work as a teacher at the College University Hogeschool West-Flanders, Kortrijk where I teach advanced courses on webdevelopment, being ruby on rails and Java EE; Open Source and Linux. When time allows I also take on projects, that offer a certain challenge, related to my teaching in an attempt to break the age old mantra "Those who can't teach". I would also like to note that webdevelopment, isn't the same as webdesign, but by looking at this site, you might have come to that conclusion yourself. At the moment I work on a project, as part of the professionalisation in Higher Education, "Open Source in Flemish Small and Medium Businesses" (Open source in de Vlaamse KMO), where we attempt to find out the adoption rate and the image of Open Source. When requested, I also speak on Open Source and internet (driven) innovation as was the case for the 3rd E-government Academy in 2005 and for v-ict-or where I spoke on "RSS, Wiki, Podcasts ... Huh?". I also gave an introduction on "Open Source For everyone" (Open Source voor iedereen) in context to the new open source offerings of the Library at Kortrijk, Belgium. |
